Put the phone down.
Come and be human.
Screen-free evenings for people who want to feel fully present.
The average person checks their phone 96 times a day. That's once every ten minutes. And it's making us lonelier.
Createhood’s BEING events are very simple. You come. You leave your phone in your pocket, and you spend an hour or so being somewhere, with someone, doing something that has nothing to do with a screen.
Sometimes it's playing something.
Sometimes it's reading in comfortable silence next to people you've never met.
Sometimes it's writing a letter to someone you've been meaning to contact for years.
And for people who love to craft, we run sessions where you can make something.
There is no agenda. No pressure, or performance.
Just people, choosing to be present with each other.
You'll be surprised how different it feels.
Read Together
Not a book club (there’s no homework or discussion required). Bring what you're reading and sit with others reading too. Optional conversation at the end to swap notes!
Events coming soon!
Slow Evenings
Board games. Jigsaw puzzles. Card games. Phones in pockets. No Wi-Fi required. A warm, kind and welcoming way to meet new people.
Letter writing
Bring someone to mind (a friend, a parent, or even your past self!) and write to them. With actual pen and paper thought. So much nicer to receive than a hasty text message.
I know what you’re thinking…
Why on earth would we want to meet and do things that you can do at home for free?
Fair question. You own a pack of cards. You have paper and a pen. You could read at home right now, for free, in your pyjamas, with a better snack selection.
And yet. You haven't written that letter. The board game is in a cupboard under some stuff from 2019. The book on your bedside table has had the same bookmark in it since March. At home there's always something more urgent, more glowing, more beeping for your attention — and you're very good at listening to it.
The difference isn't the activity. It's the commitment. You got off the sofa and into the car. You sat down with people who also make that same decision. Nobody's going anywhere for an hour or so. And the magic happens in that time; the letter gets written, the game gets played, and something in your chest unclenches in a way that three hours on the sofa never quite manages.
Also, people are friendlier than your phone. We've checked.
There’s totally no pressure in wanting to know more about future events – it does not commit you to coming!
